Auditions for Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Terri Zopf-Schoessler, are scheduled for Saturday, March 1 at 2 PM and Sunday, March 2 at 2 PM at the Playhouse.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS CAST:

SEYMOUR
Mid-twenties and perhaps balding a little. Our insecure, naive, put-upon, florist's clerk hero. Above all, he's a sweet and well-meaning little man. He is not a silly, prat-falling nerd, and therefore should not be played as the hero of a Jerry Lewis film. Tenor.
Low A to High G

AUDREY
The bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of his life. If you took Judy Holiday, Carol Channing, Marilyn Monroe and Goldie Hawn, removed their education and feelings of self-worth, dressed them in spiked heels and a low-cut black dress, and then shook them all up in a test tube to extract what's sweetest and most vunerable--that'd be Audrey. Soprano.
Low A to High D

MR. MUSHNIK
Their boss. A failure of an East Side florist. His accent, if he has one, is more that of middle class New York than of Eastern Europe. He seldom smiles but often sweats. Baritone.
Low G to High E flat

ORIN
A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and sadistic tendencies. He is NOT, however, a leftover from the movie version of Grease. Think instead of an egotistical pretty-boy — all got up like a greaser but thinking like an insurance salesman and talking like a radio announcer. Baritone and/or able to sing-speak.

THE PLANT (AUDREY II)

VOICE OF THE PLANT
An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado. It has a huge, nasty-looking pod which gains a shark-like aspect when open and snapping at food. The voice is provided by an actor on an offstage microphone OR from within the plant itself. The sound is a cross between Otis Redding, Barry White, and Wolfman Jack. Think of The Voice as that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain — Rhythm and Blues' answer to Richard the Third. Bass.

THE BOUFFANTS
Three to five female street urchins who function as participants in the action and a Greek Chorus outside it. They're young, hip, smart and the only people in the whole cast who REALLY know what's going on. In their "Greek Chorus" capacity, they occasionally sing to the audience directly. And when they do, it's often with a "secret-smile" that says: "we know something you don't know." They need to be able to sing three-part 1960's girls' group harmonies complete with choreographed moves, bouffant hair and to-die-for outfits. Soprano and alto harmony parts.

OTHER SPEAKING/ SINGING ROLES
Chorus members who sing in the big numbers and who also play roles including: A Voice Not Unlike God's, Wino #1, Wino #2, Customer, Old Chinese Man, Radio Announcer, Girl in the Dentist's Chair, Mr. or Miss Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip, and Patrick Martin.

PLANT DANCERS
A group of dancers willing to provide visual interest and movement for the Plant as well as dance in other numbers.

Sudden Theatre!

It's time for SUDDEN THEATRE!!! One little thing right after another! It's our annual fall show of ten-minute plays!! It was such fun last year, we're making it an annual event! It's a great time for a vast variety of styles and types of stories all in the same show. Ten-minute plays are all the rage in theatres all over the country, and we found out why last year! If you're interested in directing a ten-minute play for the SUDDEN THEATRE, or if you've written a ten-minute play you think might be fun to do, please email me, or LAURA FORBES (greenleader@yahoo.com), who will be the ARTISTIC DIRECTOR this year for SUDDEN THEATRE.

DIRECTORS (or just people with questions about directing) will have a meeting THIS SUNDAY with Laura, August 26th at 3:00 at the Playhouse to make sure we're all on the same page, discuss plays, and get organized! Please email me or Laura (greenleader@yahoo.com) beforehand so we know how many will be there!

AUDITIONS for SUDDEN THEATRE ten-minute plays will be This Coming Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (August 28 and 29 - come either day, unless you are asked to come both days by a director) Auditions will be at the Playhouse at 6:00. If you would like to audition, but can't make those times, please email me or Laura.
