Evening of One-Acts
One_Acts_2011_poster_for_web
Kenai Performers present an evening of one-acts at 7 p.m. Oct. 28, Oct. 29, Nov. 4 and Nov. 5, and 3 p.m. Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at the Little Theater at Kenai Central High School. Shows are:

“Trifles,” by Susan Glaspell, directed by Terri Zopf-Schoessler, starring Dan Van Zee, Andrew Gunter, Cliff Bouchard, Terri Burdick and Kristin Mitchell. "Trifles" takes place in the disheveled and empty farmhouse of John Wright about 1916. A sheriff, his wife, the county attorney, a neighbor and his wife enter and gather near the fire. The men are there to investigate the murder of John Wright; as they search for evidence, the women are left in the kitchen to gather clothing and quilting work for Mrs. Wright, who has been jailed on suspicion of killing her husband.
"Einstein, A Stage Portrait," by Willard Simms, directed by Jenny Neyman. Marc Berezin brings the humorous, humble and altogether human genius to life in this one-man portrait.
****15-Minute Intermission****
“A Very Bad Day for Brandon Butterworth,” by Scott Haan, directed by Angie Nelson. Starring Jamie Nelson, Heather Swanson, Nicole Egholm, Aimee Lynn Murphy, Jesse Pedginski and Ian McEwen. Brandon Butterworth has apparently been playing the field. On one fateful night, his multiple girlfriends accidentally discover each other. The three ladies realize their boyfriends, all named Brandon, are actually the same guy. Instead of fighting and bickering amongst themselves, they hatch a plan for revenge, teaming up to teach the three-timer a lesson. Brandon is about to have a very bad day, indeed ... unless his own plan works!
“Sure Thing,” by David Ives, directed by Ian McEwen and starring Shay Kurz and Daniel Rozak. A chance meeting of two characters, Betty and Bill, whose conversation is continually reset by the use of a ringing bell, starting over when one of them responds negatively to the other.

Shows are PG to PG-13 and may not be suitable to small children.

Tickets: $12 for general admission,  $10 for students and seniors. Available at: Charlotte’s and Curtain Call Consignment Boutique in Kenai, and River City Books in Soldotna.

"Love Rides the Rails or Will the Mail Train Run Tonight"Love_Rides_the_Rails_Sheriff_Jack
by Moreland Carey, directed by Terri Zopf-Schoessler
Join us for the show and cash bar at 7 p.m. May 13, 14, 20 & 21, 2011.
At the Soldotna Senior Center.

The villianous Simon Darkway seeks to control the Kenai, Soldotna & Kasilof R.R. for his own vile purposes. Assisting him are Dirk Sneath, a viper of a man, and Carlotta Cortez, the sultry siren with a heart of gold. Fortunately, the gallant Truman Pendennis, the beauteous Prudence Hopewell, the Widow Hopewell, and staunch Harold Standfast oppose the sinister schemes of this wicked trio. Swiftly and hilariously, the classic melodramatic plot unfolds, leading to a tremendous climax when the hero is inescapably bound by the villains to the tracks of an onrushing train. Thankfully, it is our heroine who arrives just in the nick of time to stop the train and save the day. And now, with virtue at last triumphant, the evildoers get their just desserts!
Presented by the Kenai Performers, Soldotna Senior Center and Midnight Sun Rowing Club.
