Hi, Everybody! Whenever we can, we like to get videos of community
shows and our own shows. Bob Maybre has some dvds of former shows, dance
recitals, choral performances, etc. He will be at the Playhouse this
evening (Dec.
18), at 6:00 with those he has finished so that you can pick them up
or buy them if you haven't ordered one already. If you have ordered
one or would like to see if he has one you missed, please come by the
Playhouse at 6.
Please come in the theatre door so we don't get too mixed up with people
coming for the read-sing-play-through for The King and I.
King and I folks, come in the double doors into the big side and sign
in. If you want videos, come through and do that, then come to the big
side and sign in. THANKS!

concert. PLEASE let me know if you can help tomorrow. If we have a
good turnout it shouldn't take too long!
I will be working in the Playhouse TODAY, Sat. from a little before
1 until between 2 and 3, and I could sure use some help, too, so come
over if you can! THANKS!!! Call my cell if you can come or email me.

Hi, Everybody! Last night's auditions for The King and I were a LOT
of FUN! If you didn't make it last night (Wed) I hope to see you tomorrow
(Friday) at 6 at KCHS! We're a little short on guys so far, so GUYS,
we really need you! Especially we need a tenor or two! If you're wanting
to be in the show, but hesitant to commit, there are a number of parts
for men that will not take a ton of nights a week, but are very necessary
to the show, so if you've thought of coming, come on in! This is going
to be FUN!

Hi, Everybody! Don't forget to come audition for Rogers
and Hammerstein's
classic, THE KING AND I Either this WEDNESDAY at 6:00 at KCHS
OR
This FRIDAY at 6:00 at KCHS
And leave SATURDAY at 1:00 open for call backs!
Each auditioner will read, sing and dance. NOT ALL PARTS require all
three skills! Just go along and have fun, and we'll find where you fit
best.
Reading is "cold read" - meaning you don't need to prepare
a piece. Wed and Fri. auditions will include readings with others of
scenes chosen from the script. If you are not comfortable as a cold
reader, just stand back and listen, and you will be able to hear the
scene many times before you read, so you can feel more comfortable when
it's your turn. Non-readers will be asked to talk so we can listen for
volume and clarity.
Dancers will teach a short routine to all as a group, and will just
see how you move and how well you learn and remember movement. They
will also check for flexibility, as most characters kneel, curl up,
and sit cross-legged.
Singing auditions will be a little different this year. Singers will
also be taught short pieces as a group, or may prepare 8-10 measures
of a song of their choice to give a sample of style and range. Persons
wishing to audition for a main singing part will sing a song from The
King and I as an audition piece at callbacks.
Here are the significant vocal ranges:
Anna mezzo
King baritone
Lady Thiang soprano, sings high G
Tuptim soprano, sings high A#
Lun Tha tenor, sings high G
Louis boy alto, sings low G
Prince Chulalongkorn boy alto or baritone, sings low G
I look forward to seeing you all at the auditions! We are also looking
for reliable help with sets and costumes!!! If you love to create at
that level, please email me or show up at the auditions! It takes a
VILLAGE to do a SHOW, and the costumes and sets this year promise to
be AMAZING!! Be part of the backstage scene, and make that magic happen
at YOUR fingertips! For planning purposes, the show will play Feb 22,
23, 24, 29, March 1 and 2. Please check your schedules before you come
to auditions so you can let me know of rehearsal conflicts.
SEE YOU AT THE AUDITIONS!
